According to the article by Tara Kalwarski published on Business Week global dealmaking is recovering, with the pace of announced mergers and acquisitions now almost double the lows earlier this year.


The conclusions are:

North American companies have been the biggest targets.

At its height in mid-2007, mergers-and-acquisitions activity was more than three times its current rate.

Almost $2.1 trillion in deals have been announced so far this year.

Morgan Stanley has surged into first place among deal advisers, ranked fifth in 2008.

We observe lower markups. The richest premium currently offered on $1 billion-plus deals is roughly 35%.
